The Phoenix Zoo is all set to organize the "Hit the Beach!" themed Prowl & Play on its sixth anniversary. The event is scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 11 at the Phoenix Zoo, 455 N. Galvin Parkway, Phoenix. It will begin during cooler hours at 5:30 PM and will be continued till 8:30 PM.
Linda Hardwick, the director of communications at the Zoo, said that, the event will feature activities that encourage guests to have fun in the summer sun.
This year, the highlight of the event is a "mechanical shark." "It's exactly like a mechanical bull. I think people will really enjoy testing their skills," Hardwick said.
The organizers say, there will be plenty of live animals as well, with "Creature Features" (informational talks about animals) scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The event activities include a "splash zone" for kids, beach-themed crafts, sand pits, a booth dedicated to the upcoming Disney/Pixar "Finding Dory" movie, and storytelling with the Moon Mermaid.
"She looks fantastic. She is going to do story time with the kids," Boisen said.
"We want people to enjoy the zoo and do it without the sun and the heat of the day."
