Veteran actor of Indian cinemas, Vinod Khanna passed away this morning at the age of 70 at Mumbai’’s HN Reliance Hospital. According to reports the actor was battling with cancer for years. The renowned actors had a long Bollywood career; he has worked in more than 100 movies, and was MP from Gurdaspur, Punjab.
“Doctors and family were expecting a recovery, but somehow his condition escalated and he succumbed today afternoon,” said a hospital source.
He was hospitalized in the April first week due to severe dehydration, but was later said to be stable and responding positively to treatment.
He was called on the most handsome men in the film industry, featured in as many as 146 movies throughout his career.
Khanna was married twice and is has four children, Ashaye, Rahul, Sakshi and Shraddha.
He was one of the most loved and sought out film start in the 1970-80s. In the beginning of his career, he got smaller and mostly negative roles, but in no time, he bagged lead roles in many movies.
He made his debut in 1968’s Mann ki Baat, and went on to becoming a star that we know today.
His roles in movies like, Mere Apne, Inkaar, Amar Akbar Anthony, The Burning Train, Lahu ke Do Rand, Qurbani, Dayavaan and Jurm will be remembered throughout many generations to come.
In 1999, Vinod Khanna received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.
Even with a busy career in politics, he did not give up on films and worked in some recent movies like Dabaang, Players and Dilwale.
In April, news about his deteriorating health took the social media by storm, his picture in hospital was hugely shared. In his last days the actor was surrounded by all his children and wife Kavita.
In recent years, we have seen many veteran actors pass away, though they are not with us anymore, their presence will always be felt, with the iconic roles that they have played by putting life in it.
