Scores of Indian families these days are opting for closed, private wedding affair thus mounting up the demand for destination weddings. Apart from tourism, nuptials have been catching the eye of foreign investors and wedding organizers.
India’s wedding organizers predict a 300 percent rise in Indian weddings held in Turkey this year.
Culture and Tourism Minister of Turkey Mehmet Nuri Ersoy told that he expects that 2019 will turn out to be a lucrative year for Indian weddings taking place in Turkey. The country is also expected to witness a rise in the number of tourists from Iran.
"I am in touch with the wedding organizers from India. They predict a 300 percent rise. One of the airline companies in India has started its flights to Turkey," Ersoy reportedly said.
The minister added that there was a huge interest from Indian airlines who have started to search for ways to fly to India. Low-cost carrier IndiGo made its first appearance direct flight to Istanbul, a cultural and financial hub in Turkey.
Earlier this year, H Denis Ersoz, Culture & Tourism Counselor, Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in India said that they had already hosted 20 Indian weddings last year and they wanted to increase this number to 30 this year.
As per figures by Travel Trends Today, around 1,50,000 Indian tourists arrived in Turkey in 2018.
