Harnaaz Sandhu, a 21-year-old from Punjab is named as the Miss Universe 2021 and she was crowned in an event that took place in Eilat, Israel. Harnaaz Sandhu is the third Indian to bag the title after Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutt. Lara Dutt was crowned in 2000 and an Indian bagged the Miss Universe crown after 21 long years. Harnaaz Sandhu was showered with compliments from celebrities, politicians and common people. She received accolades on social media for the achievement. Harnaaz Sandhu sounded so confident and emerged as the winner.

Harnaaz Sandhu represented India at the 70th Miss Universe Event for the year 2021. Paraguay's Nadia Ferreira and South Africa's Lalela Mswane are the runners-up for the year. Harnaaz Sandhu received the Miss Universe crown from former Miss Universe Andrea Meza from Mexico. Before this, Harnaaz Sandhu won two titles of India. "The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing is to believe in themselves, to know that you are unique and that's what makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let's talk about more important things that's happening worldwide. This is what you need to understand. Come out, speak for yourselves because you are the leader of your life, you are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that's why I am standing here today" told Harnaaz during her winning speech.
