The Hyderabad police has arrested another seven persons in connection with communal riots that broke out in sensitive areas of the city three days back. Addressing the media, Central Crime Station (CCS) DCP, Sathyanarayana has said that so far 26 cases have been registered in Hyderabad riots case and today seven persons were taken into the custody.
Meanwhile, he has stated that the police constable recruitment that was scheduled to take place from April 11 to April 13 has been deferred keeping in view the tense situation in Hyderabad. It may be noted that riots broke out in two major areas in Hyderabad three days ago at places of worship. Culprits even resorted to violence that panicked many people residing in old city of Hyderabad.
While curfew was imposed in several parts of the city, CrPC Sec 144 was imposed in the entire twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Notably, curfew in Hyderabad has entered its third day today. People in old city are reportedly facing problems as they couldn’t go out due to curfew. While the police said that they would life curfew for two hours between 12 and 2 PM, the same was withdrawn eventually. So far, the city has been peaceful and situation seems to be limping back to normalcy. (Phani)
