CBI conducts raids in connection with Tatra case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that is probing the alleged irregularities that took place in Tatra deal has conducted searches in Delhi and Noida in connection with the case.

According to the sources, the CBI sleuths-who moved in three teams--to two residences of retired army officials and Vectra official this morning, recovered some key documents from them pertaining to this case.

Notably, CBI has also called Vectra chairman Ravinder Rishi for questioning today. He was even questioned yesterday. It may be recalled that CBI was pressed into action after the government received too many complaints on irregularities in the purchase of Tatra all-terrain trucks.  It may also be noted that this has even violated the defense purchase norms.

For each truck, the estimated money that went into the pocket was around five lakh per truck to Vectra company, according to the CBI. In fact, in 2010 alone he allegedly made profits of Rs. 72 lakhs.

Vectra company is owned by London based Ravinder Rishi and CBI has already named him as an accused in its FIR pertaining to this case.  The CBI  earlier has said that an estimated profit was around Rs. 250 crore to Vectra chief. (Phani)
