Interview with R.K September 23, 2011 16:14
The ‘Mama’ of Hyderabad. The Guy with complete ‘Tough’ looks and the roles he have done also highlight the same. But, he was never a complete bad guy. He, with his roles once again proved that all bad guys have such soft corner in their lives, through his roles. He is none other than, Actor – Film maker, R.K., the ‘Hyderabad Nawabs’, ‘AndariBandhuvaya’ fame, who successfully produced and did some roles in these films. R.K. has also entertained the audience with his latest release ‘Vara Prasad V/S Potti Prasad’. A quick chit chat with R.K; Being a Producer: Passion towards films and a thought to entertain the audience made me come to this field. My first two films, the series of ‘Hyderabad Nawabs’, were a very big commercial success. I just wanted to make people laugh, by showcasing the same they see every day in their Hyderabad, on silver screen. And this worked out. But, later, I started thinking I should make a message oriented film. Cinema is definitely the medium of entertainment. But, it has to make people think as well, apart from getting entertained. This thought made me produce a meaningful film, ‘AndariBandhyvaya’, directed by my Childhood friend ‘AaNaluguru’ fame Chandra Siddartha. The Movie, released between lot of speculations turned out to be a decent success and yes, I was satisfied as a film maker. This film made me experience the joy of being a proper actor as I had a chance to do a key role in the film as well. Particularly the Climax sequence in this film, turned out to be a highlight. It has been close to two years this film released, and even today people talk about the film and this is an achievement. All credit to my friend, director Chandra Siddarth. As an Actor: Right from acting in my first three production ventures, ‘Hyderabad Nawabs’, ‘Angrez’ and ‘AndariBandhuvaya’, I have always played the roles that appeared to be a role of a Villain, but used to have a message at the end. It is not that I want to do only certain type of roles, neither have I believed in ‘image’ trap. I consider myself as a film maker and acting has always been my passion. So, any role that has an importance in the story of the film comes to me, I am ready to take up. So, I did a role in the recent release complete comedy flick ‘Vara Prasad V/S Potti Prasad’. The film, released on September 17th, is running successfully and people are appreciating my work in the film. Telugu Cinema has got n number of great artists, to be being one among them and to be known by people is a goal. And also to produce some entertaining and message oriented films as well, that of course would be convincing to the audience. Telugu Cinema today: Has become more unpredictable. It is more the genre of commercial cinema that is ruling the industry today. considering the percentage of audience prefer to watch commercial films that includes a well noted star cast, for any film maker, even to think about experimenting with the story of the film has become a difficult task. Because for a film maker, the moment he thinks of making a film, he has to consider the success ratio, the market, the buyers and the profit factors that are related with the film. So, as a result not many subject oriented films are coming up. But, I say it is not his factor of money, but passion towards making a meaningful film, drives the film maker to do the same. You can always make a complete effort of projecting a sensible film and for sure the audience would watch the same. It is just that you should know with what you are doing with your film and how the takeoff of the story is. After that, the success has to follow. A thought that makes me think: World and people today have become very materialistic. We are living a life, but with no life. we are so busy with our own lives that we don’t even care to look at lending a helping hand to others. This way, we have to sit back and think where we are going. We are making a good amount of development, but diminishing when it comes to human values, each day. This thought itself, inspired me to produce a critically acclaimed film like ‘AndariBandhuvaya’, that was recognized by the audience as well as appreciate with n number of state and well known Awards. No matter I do not earn oodles of money being a film maker, but every now and then I promise of making films like this. End of the day, I only have one motto, our thought process should change for a better and I would be inculcating the same with my films.

Probably two weeks ago, a film titled ‘Nenu Nanna Abaddham’, released in Hyderabad and all other centers throughout Andhra Pradesh. The Movie, Starring not so well noted Hero, and a new comer as a Heroine, released with absolute no expectations. As every Good work talks, even this film has completed its second week of releasing and running successfully. Well, this is what we call how profitable it would be for the film makers to produce an less than average budget film and enjoy the success of it. More than anyone, all the appreciation goes to the creator of the film, Debutant Director Govind Varaha, who has made ‘Nenu Nanna Abhaddam’ a worth watching film. Let’s know more what this director has to say about him, the film and his Journey as a director; Being a part of this industryIt has been very tough for me to sustain all these years in this industry and able to see my name on silver screen as a director of a film. Initial stages of my career were very tough. My aspiration and only aim in life is to become a director and for this I had to struggle a lot. Somehow, I managed to join as a assistant of director Karunakaran and this association has helped to a major extent. I consider Karunakaran as my ‘Guru’ and Dasari Narayana Rao has been my inspiration of my life. Today, Dasari Garu, after watching ‘Nenu Nanna Abhaddam’, ahs complemented on my work and that itself is a ‘Osca’ recognition for me. ‘Nenu Nanna Abhaddam’It is a complete feel good film that revolves around a adolescent couple residing in a Village. Like any other two teenagers, even this couple fall in love with each other. The rich - poor factor dominates their love and they decide to elope. But, I have tried projecting what happens after this couple takes this ‘big’ decision to live life their own. And yes, this has worked positive. The movie, released on September 9th has been getting good reviews each day and today the movie is considered to be a good success, satisfying the film maker too. Hero – Heroine of the filmWhen I was done with the story and the pre production work of my first film as a director, I did not found any film maker or a Hero who could trust me and let me direct the film. In my search, I met Nandu, the Hero of the film. He was so very impressed with the script that he immediately agreed to do the film and introduced me to the producers of the film. And later on, everything happened as planned. As far as selecting the female lead in the film, I wanted to introduce a new face who has looks and extra ordinary performance skills. I remember the girl who played Young Arundhati, in the film ‘Arundhati’. So, I approached Divya Nagesh. Though she is too young to become a heroine, she suited the hero of the film and the character as well. So, there were no second thoughts. On the success of the filmLike any other director, even I was very nervous before the release of the film and on the first day of release as well. No doubt I am confident on my making. But, it is only a unpredictable thought as how would the audience would receive the film. Moreover, there is no well known actor in either of the lead roles. For the film to be successful the audience has to watch it and through the mouth publicity, the talk about the film would spread from one to another. I am thankful to each and every audience, who has made this film a success. Future projectsI am working on a script now. As I have made my directorial debut directing a complete love entertainer, I just want to experiment with my second film. The chances of the film going to go on – location from November 2011 are high. The rest of the details of the cast and crew and the other technical team will be announced soon.By Govind Varahaa’s experiences, it is once again proved, not every high budget film will be a success, not every average budget film, will be a flop.

She is an apt meaning for a heroine, becoming a star overnight. She is good looking, not with a perfect figure and a height, but with her performance in the debut film itself and the extra ordinary way of her to carry her personality, made her a most wanted name in T – Town. Though, simultaneously doing films in her mother tongue ‘Malayalam’, this Actress is not been seen these days in T –Town. Any particular reason? Let’s listen from Nitya Menon herself; Never wanted to be an actress I was never keen in getting into films. I was always passionate of being Journalism. I have also done a course in Journalism. But, I happened to meet Nandini Reddy, who insisted that I should try out acting. Initially, I was not up for the decision. But, later, I thought, why don’t I give it a try. If it works, well and good, otherwise there is always an option for me to get back to Journalism. So, that’s how ‘Ala Modalaindi’ happened and later, I have been getting offers from Malayalam film industry. I have done some rewarding films over there to name with ‘Urimi’, ‘Anwar’, that are familiar to the T –T own audience as well. Language, not a barrier for me Whether it is a Telugu or Tamil or Malayalam, unless and until I understand the language, able to emote the right expressions and to tell the dialogues, I am not keen in which language I am succeeding as a actress. I am only concerned about doing some good roles, like ‘Ala Modalaindi’, that make me remembered as an actress, even after certain time. Unless and until I am satisfied with the role, I just don’t agree doing a film, just to get some work and money. The day I am being asked to compromise on the role and asked to do some formula heroine role like in any commercial hero centric film, and then I prefer quitting the industry. I have no clue why I am not doing work in T –Town It is not that I have not got the offers. There have been n numbers of film makers, who have approached me to cast in their films, post the success of ‘Ala Modalaindi’. But, as I said you, I am looking at showing variation in every film I do. I do not want to restrict myself doing same old roles in 100 other films. But, I am happy doing different roles in each film; no matter I end up doing some handful films in my entire acting career. That is the reason, I am doing a film ‘Ishq’ in Telugu as of now. About ‘Ishq’ As the name itself suggests, this film is a complete love – action entertainer. Apart from hero of the film Nitin, I have a very interesting role to play in the film, that is equal to that of the Hero of the film. The shooting of the film is almost completed and I am looking forward to the release of the film that will for sure entertain the audience. I don’t repent doing ‘Sega’ Just because the film I have done, did not work well at the Box office, I don’t end up regretting about my decision. Even today I say ‘Sega’ is a very beautiful film that has been made by Anjana. But, yes, it has not been accepted by the audience. but, this is very common in the film industry. It is so natural that, many times the unexpected would happen. So did in the case of ‘Sega’. But, no regrets for me. Right from my first film, to ‘180’ to ‘Sega’, I have done a quality work and hope to do the same in near future too. About speaking on Prabhas Oh God! Hope you people still do not forget the incident. It just a accident and nothing more. As I am new to the industry and I do not remember the names of all the heroes I was not able to recollect the same and ended up asking ‘Who is Prabhad’, when media asked me if I would act with him. Now, what is so wrong in this to be made a issue out of the same? Now, I and Prabhas know each other very well and Prabhas also does not seem to be having any issues of what I have said. Mistakes are bound to happen. Please do not exaggerate them and make an issue out of every small statement made. Am I seeing ‘Nani’? Now, this is another rumor. Just because I and Nani move close with each other and just because we have done two films together that does not mean that I am seeing him. He is a very good friend of mine and most important we are of more or less same age group and at the same stage of our careers so we jell along well. And moreover, if I am seeing anyone, I feel there is no necessity to hide the same. As of now, I am single. I don’t plan I don’t plan my future and hence, I can’t tell you what are my future plans. I go as and when the life takes me. Yes, I do work on doing good films and nothing more. I believe in living the moment and in a perfect way. That’s it!

He is an Actor, who has managed to create his identity in the industry without any support and completely on his Acting skills and ability to enact any role with an ease. Be it a careless teenager ka role in ‘Gautam S.S.C’ or a negative shades ka role in ‘Arya – 2’, he has proved his worth as an Actor. Navdeep’s another film ‘Aakasame Haddu’ is released today. Let’s see what this Actor has to say about his career, films, and future; I am here to do good work I made my debut in the film industry, out of passion for films and to prove ‘Yes, even I can act’. It was always my dream to be a recognized actor in the Telugu Cinema and I am more than happy that people recognize me today, after 5+ years of my acting career in the industry. The day I have stepped into this industry, I have decided I would not restrict myself to play only certain set of characters. I am here to do good work and sustain as a good actor in this industry. Now, weather it is a negative shaded role or a commercial hero’s character or a comic touch role, end of the day a Cinema is nothing but a medium to get entertained. As far as audience finds me entertaining, I am here. A Rewind of my career I really do not understand how these 5 years have already completed. Initially, I was completely on my own of doing or not doing a film, accepting or rejecting the role and I have made some wonders and many blunders in accepting the roles. But, no regrets. This is completely a life that has been made by me, with no support. Yes, I do thank Teja Garu, for recognizing the Actor in me and giving a life for me by casting me in ‘Jai’. This film, though was not a commercial success, helped me in making my identity in the industry and then many offers followed in. films like ‘Manasu Maata Vinadu’, ‘Gautam S.S.C’, ‘Arya – 2’ have proved me as an Actor. Within 5 years of span, I have experimented with much variety of roles. Even in Tamil film industry, I have done some worth mentioning roles. I might not be a super star and I neither want to be. I am recognized as an Actor and any film maker who is looking for a actor who can do a challenging role is approaching me today. I feel more than satisfied with this improvement of my career. No ‘Image’ I am lucky that I am not involved in any ‘Image’ tag, of categorizing me to only certain set of roles. I have done n number of characters in many films and this helped me to get more work and more sustainability in the industry. Moving further, I really do not want to get involved in any ‘image’ tag. I want to do a hero role, a comedy hero role, a negative shaded character and experiment with all the characters that come my way. About ‘Aakasame haddu’ These days there are many films after watching the same, we would be in a dilemma that, what the director actually wants to say. The connect and the clarity in the films is missing. But, ‘Akasame Haddu’ is a film that has lots of entertainment along with the message in it. The film is clear and does not disappoint the audience. I feel this role has completely satisfied me as a Actor. The film, released today, and I am sure this will be a definite success, just like the music of the film. I share a screen space with another hero in the film Rajeev and heroine Panchi Bora. We three have done our best job. ‘Chandamama’ the turning point For every actor there would be one film in his life that changes his career for a better. For me, it is definitely Krishna Vamsi’s ‘Chandamama’. The film actually projected my acting skills, and people have known that Navdeep can even give a complete entertaining performance, with this film. What else I can say, I am thankful to Krishna Vamsi, for giving this role and film to me. About link ups This is as common as getting a flop film. Whether you are successful or not, once you are in the news and people are recognizing you, then you being linked up with your co star has become very common. I have worked in certain good amount of films and almost all the heroines were of my age, so I being friendly with them and vice versa am so common. But, this is industry yaar, here being linked up for no reason, happens every now and then. I prefer not responding to the same. If I find someone special in my life, I have no qualms in disclosing the same.

By ‘Chandini’ I mean a heart throb of Indian Cinema, despite entering her 40’s still being in demand, and making her second innings in B – Town, with the film ‘English – Vinglish’, Actress Sridevi. I suppose right from when she has seen the World, she has been acting. Sridevi has acted in n number of films as a Child Artist, made her debut as a Heroine with ’16 Yella Vayasu’ when she was 14 years old and more than 3 decades, managed to be a super success heroine, both in South Indian Cinema and B – Town too. Now, another young girl is following the foot prints of Sridevi. Divya Nagesh who has done close to 50 films as a Child Artist was in fame when she appeared as a Small Arundhati in socio – fantasy flick ‘Arundhati’. People loved the performance and the looks of this girl. After a gap of close to a year, she has now become a Heroine, debuting with a film, titled, ‘Nenu, Nanna, Abhaddam’, that is scheduled for a release on 9th of September. Let’s know what this girl feels about films and more; I am here to do good work I have done close to 50 to 60 films and n number for Television Serials as a Child artist both in Telugu and Tamil languages. Thanks to Director Kodi Rama Krishna and the Producer Shyam Prasad Reddy, of ‘Arundhathi’ who have given me such a powerful role in the film. There was no looking back after this film. I always wanted to become a heroine, but wanted to take some more time. When the director of ‘Nenu Nanna Abhaddam’ approached me with the story, I could not say ‘no’ to such a beautiful script and I have ended up making a debut at the age of 15 years. But, I feel I have taken a correct decision of making a debut as a heroine so early. It is not the age, but the looks and the script that matters and I feel I have done justice to all the factors. I am here to do good work and quality films. About Lip Locks and Skin show I was always been open to do quality films and performance oriented roles. But, I am very against for all those lip locks and skin show in the films. Even if it is a role of a Heroine, it is not necessary for unnecessary Skin show. I am here to do only those roles that elevates me as an actress and not as a Glam doll. If any day I am asked to compromise on my rule set, I would better quit films and explore other phases of Media. About Nenu Nanna Abhaddam The Movie has come out very well. It is a film that can be viewed by all set of audience irrespective of age and gender and so called class. Hero of the film, Nandu has also done a very fantastic job. We are very confident that the film would turn out to be a very good success. The music, the taking and the climax have come out very well and are the USPs of the film. About future I have been getting couple of offers from Tamil film industry as well, and will soon accept a film too. As far as Telugu, I am reading some scripts now, and will finalize on a good script again, soon. I have given by 10th Exams, and looking forward to explore in the Education field as well. I am like any other teenage girl, who believes in living each moment of the life. But, yes, one difference is that I am already in a Career of Acting. Well, let’s hope this Young Heroine would succeed in the film Industry and would live up to her aim of doing some good work.

‘I am in love with Comedy’ – Avasaraala Srinivas All those who has seen and enjoyed watching Indraganti Mohan Krishna’s directorial ‘Asta Chamma’, enjoyed Avasaraala Srinivas’s comedy, his tall and lean body language and his facial expressions, his performance skills, apart from the other star cast ka performance and the story of the film. Soon, this Actor has become a wanted for many film makers. And this made Srinivas to continuously act in films such as ‘Saradaaga Kaasepu’ a Vamsi Directorial and the recent release V.N. Aditya’s directorial ‘Mugguru’ that is produced by Movie Moughal Dr. D. Rama Naidu. With his way towards every step of success, right from holding a Job in an MNC in America to being an Actor for that matter an entertainer in Telugu Cinema, Avasaraala Srinivas has come a very long way. Read further, to what this young actor has to say about his Journey in Telugu Cinema, about his passion, future plans and about his recent release ‘Mugguru’; ‘Mugguru’ a lovable film I am glad that I am a part of one of the biggest projects, ‘Mugguru’ that has released on August 19th. The film, directed by one of the well known director of T – Town V.N. Aditya Sir. Movie Moughal Dr. D. Rama Naidu produced this film. What more an Actor like me would look for. ‘Mugguru’ has been made and released with the intention to entertain the audience who come to theaters to forget all their problems and enjoy watching the film. I feel, Me, Navadeep and Rahul have worked very hard to make our acting skills work positive for the film. The Movie is getting mixed reviews as of now. But, there are many others who are positive about the film. We are sure that the film will soon get into many audience mind, and turn out to be a block buster, because it is based on Comedy. Comedy is one such jorner that no matter what never turns out to be a flop, if worked out with a perfect timing. And we all Artists have done everything to entertain the audience. And moreover, the USP of the film being Bramhanandam, who is an Veteran Comedian, there is no chance of the film being a non entertainer. From a Corporate to ‘Asta Chamma’, a long Journey I am glad that, it did not take much of a time for me to settle down as an Actor in this industry. It is not that Acting has come my way just like that. I always wanted to be an Actor. I have also done a Diploma in Theater Arts in America, apart from working. When I have come to know, director Indraganti Mohan Krishna is looking for some new faces in his debutant film ‘Ashta Chamma’, I have tried my luck by giving auditions and as a result, ‘Ashta Chamma’ has worked positive for me. may be the type of character I have played in this film, the role being so very entertaining, everyone remembered even me apart from the other leads in the film, that in turn got me all the offers and the image on which I am stable today. Comedy, My Passion Many ask me, if given chance weather I would transform myself into a complete Hero ka image. But, I am totally passionate about Comedy and prefer only excelling in only this jorner. Yes, if given a chance I would always try doing many other jorner roles too, but Comedy would be my first priority. I am here to do more and more films, not to create any image for me, that would in turn become a hurdle for my career. Family support Initially, like any other worried parents, even my parents were not in favor of me quitting my job and joining films. But, I was pretty confident about serving my passion. But once I became successful, even they started believing in me now. And thanks to my elder brother, who has always been supportive and till date, makes sure he would be beside me, whenever I need him. I wish to do more and more films and in turn earn more success, so that the believe that my family kept on me would turn out to be positive. Directorial debut I have studied about direction and all the departments of making a film, as a part of my Diploma Course. Yes, I do have plans to make films. But, not in next couple of years atleast. Let me first establish myself as an Actor. Then I will look forward to direct the film. and yes, even if I tend to become an director, even then I will look forward to make entertaining films, as I enjoy watching them as an audience and prefer making those films to make many other people enjoy. Well, it is good to see that Actors like Avasaraala Srinivas are looking forward to establish their career as Actors, with no god father for them and only acting talent being a Soul. And yes, this is more than enough.

She is Hot, she is beautiful, she is a good performer, though a non Telugu speaking actress manages to tell all the dialogues with proper expressions in Telugu itself. And what more any film maker would expect from his Heroine to do. This is more than enough and Aksha proved that she is one such Actress, who has all the required qualities of a perfect Heroine. And no wonder, not even a single film opposite a single Big Actor before, Ashka appeared playing a lead role in Santosh Srinivas directorial, Ram’s ‘Kandireega’. Aksha got equal amount of good reviews infact more than the main female lead of the film Hansika. Aksha, more than happy about the success of the film, talks more about ‘Kandireega’, and her association with Telugu films; I was amused to sign ‘Kandireega’ One find day, I get a call from the film maker Bellamkonda Suresh’s office, asking me to come for a audition for a role in Ram’s ‘Kandireega’. I thought why I don’t try out the same. As a result, director of the film, Santosh Srinivas offered me a key role in the film that is in fact more important than the first heroine Hansika’s role. My role requires a lot of drama to do on screen, lot of expressions to emote, and lot of variations to be showcased while enacting the character. I was very nervous to accept this role. Infact, I have asked the director of the film, Santosh ji to re – think on the decision for choosing me to do this role. But, thanks to the confidence he has on me, I only ended up doing the role. Today, the entire T – Town has recognized my caliber as an actress, and all credit goes to Santosh ji, who always had confidence on me, was patient enough to explain the importance of each and every expression that was asked to give by me and in turn how important is my character in the film. ‘Kandireega’s result satisfied me as an actress and I am looking forward to do more roles like this. Ram, a Sweet Heart I would definitely thank Ram for being a perfect co star. In fact he was very supportive, giving equal space to his entire co star. He is only considered about the success and good output of the film, not bothering any ‘image’ factor. He is an amazing Dancer, handsome hunk, excellent Actor, perfect co star and most important a good human being. He never had that complex of being a star Hero, used to gel well with all his co stars. I am looking forward to work in more films with Ram. Ram definitely has a long way to go in the industry. Hansika, not much to talk Well, I can’t talk about the role of Hansika and neither can compare my role with her. After started working in the film, I understood how lovely it is to play a role. Had been offered the role of Hansika, I would definitely re – think on doing the same. I am in love with my character in the film. And Hansika plays a sweet, lovely girl in the film. As per the story, she does not have much on per plate to experiment with her role. But, would like to say one thing, Hansika is a professional artist, who is only considered about her work and does not take any further. I need to learn this quality of her’s. I am here to do quality work There are many films that have come my way, but, I am here to do quality films and not any other films that come to me. Even I have done some mistakes in choosing films in the initial stages of my career apart from certain films like ‘Yuvatha’ and ‘Ride’, but not anymore. ‘kandireega’ has given me a plat form, now it is in my end how to make the use of this opportunity. I am 19 years old now, and aspire to have a long way to go in the industry. Here after, I will be careful in accepting the roles. The day I am asked to do some filthy role, with no other option left, I would instead prefer quitting the field rather than compromising on my work. Finally, I once again thank all the audience for making the film a block buster success and the entire crew of ‘Kandireega’ for making me eligible enough to be a part of this film.

I still remember that moment when I have seen the trailers of the Movie, ‘Vinayakudu’. I was almost shocked. One question that popped up into my mind was, ‘What? Is thing Guy a Hero of the film?’ then my friends said, ‘Koi Nahi Yaar, these kind of a love story of a fat guy, would come up every now and then. No big deal at all’. Even I thought the same thing. ‘Vinayakudu’ was released, started getting good reviews, so as ‘The Fat Guy’, Krishnudu’s performance. People were convinced with the film. Soon came up another film titled ‘Village lo Vinayakudu’, starring Kirshnudu. Even this flick turned out to be a success. I suppose, there was no looking back for Krishnudu from then. The Actor entertained the audience with his comedy that was very refreshing in the film, ‘Em Maya Chesaave’. Krishnudu appeared as a Hero as well as a Comedian in many films. Even his recent release ‘Amayakudu’, turned out to be an average success. And now, Krishnudu is busy with his film, ‘Naku Oka Lover Undi’ that is scheduled for a release soon. Let’s see what Krishnudu has to say about all these years of his journey into Telugu Cinema, about ‘Naku Oka Lover Undi’ and much more questions asked by Andhrawishesh; Krishnudu ki kuda ‘Oka Lover Unda’? Yes, as soon as you have a look at the title and see me as a Hero, you get this question in mind. But, this is the idea behind the entire concept. I play a ‘Pandit’ in this film and my father’s character is played by Veteran Actor M.S. Narayana. Now, if a ‘Pandit’ meets a ultra modern Beautiful girl, falls in love, and then feels ‘Yes, I do have a Lover’, and all these thoughts when captured in a Camera, and turn out to be a film, then it is ‘Naku Oka Lover Undi’. Well, this is definitely a Experiment made with an personality like mine, but I hope audience would accept this film, as they did my first film, ‘Vinayakudu’, that was an experiment too. About the rest of the crew of this film The Director of this film, K. Ram Venky, has worked as a Assistant Director, under Veteran Director K. Raghavendra Rao. Ram has got his style of making a film, that for sure, will attract the audience as well. The music scores are composed by K.M. Radha Krishnan, who has given extra ordinary Music for the films like ‘Anand’, ‘Godavari’, ‘Chandamama’. And the role of my ‘Lover’ is played by a new comer Rithika, she is beautiful, with immense acting skills and has a long way to go. The film is produced by Suresh Babu. Who can forget the Cinematography handled by John for this film? Every frame is a feast for our eyes. This film is a perfect combo of perfect Technicians. From Assistant director in ‘Baghiradha’, to ‘Vinayakudu’ The only reason I have come to this industry and where ever I am standing today, all this is because my passion towards Cinema. After finishing my Studies, I wanted to take up Cinema as a full time career. I joined a film institute, and after completing the training, started hunting for the offers. Initially, I used to be well in shape and appeared in many small time roles in many films. It was during this time, I met with an accident, and Doctors advised me a 6 months bed rest. And as a result, I got this body. Once I have come back to try out with offers people were like, nothing can be done by me, without reducing my weight. I ended up getting some offers. I used to do the roles that are not even noticed in front of camera, for many films. Meanwhile, I have also worked with Cinematographer – Director Rasool Ellor, during the film, ‘Bhageeradha’. It was this time, I happen to meet Sai Kiran Adavi, and he narrated me the story line of ‘Vinayakudu’. Rest, you all know. But yes, all these years of experience in this industry, taught me to learn to live with any changes that happen in your life, opposite to what you have planned, and still succeed in the same. Character roles, Comedy roles and Hero opportunities, tough to handle? Not at all. Instead, this is the safest way to stay back in this industry for a longer time. I can’t be a Hero, for a much longer time, as compared to others, some Key roles in the films and also Comedy roles can help me survive and grow in this industry. And Moreover, I have always aspired to be a Good Artist and not only a Hero. So, at any given point of time, the quality and importance of the role given to me matters, and not the type of character I am playing. I have never believed in ‘image’, and would not even either, in near future. Intentions to direct a film? Soon. I am planning to direct a film very soon. But, definitely, as I believe in making sensible Movies, my kind of a Movie, will also include a sensible story. But, I am not yet prepared totally, to get into direction. Well, this is a very big responsibility and I need some more time to get geared up for this. Suggestions to all those who want to get into acting I am not as big as to suggest anything. But, I would instead share my learning experience, that taught me, no matter what, never lose confidence in you and never give up. What makes you tough to fight against the odd, is the problems that you face. Be strong and there is nothing you can’t achieve.

‘I have done mistakes in choosing the roles’ – Charmi ‘30 years in Industry’, this is one of the well known line from a dialogue in the film, ‘Khadgam’. When we apply the same line in analyzing a Actor’s life time in Cinema, we have many successful Heroes, even today, after spending 30 years in this industry are still in demand. But, when it comes to Heroines, her life time in cinema is not more than 5 to 8 years. We have many Heroines, who once known as a ‘Top Heroine’ is now ready to play any character to appear in films. On the other Hand, there are very few Heroines, even after a decade, still on a high. Charming Girl Chrami is one amongst them. What does Charmi feel after spending all these years in the Industry, what is her secret desire, what does she do when she becomes craze, about acting in B – Town films, item numbers, sizzling appearance and more, to know, read further; AW: More than 10 years in Industry, how do you feel? Charmi: Just feel like I am still a new comer. These 10 years went on so soon, that I did not realize I am 10 years old in this Industry. But happy, still film makers are approaching to cast me in their films. AW: At a career perspective, how these 10 years have been? Charmi: I was 14 years old, when I started off my career as a Model. T – Town Director Bheemineni Srinivasa Rao, saw my photos, approached me, auditioned me for a lead role and that’s how my first film as a Heroine, ‘Nee Thodu Kaavali’ happened. It was hard for me to bag a second film in T – Town. But, I was lucky enough to get some work, that too from Tamil Film industry. I have done couple of films there, and then the T – Town films came towards me. Rest of the story, is quite known to all. How Krishna Vamsi’s ‘Sri Anjaneyam’ happened, how my glamour quotient was highlighted, and how offers poured in. AW: What about doing different Jorner films like ‘Mantra’, ‘Mangala’? Charmi: these films did not happen just like that. When I was popular as a glamour Heroine, film maker, Gunnam Gangaraju approached me to play a role of ‘Sahasra’ (character’s name), in ‘Anukokunda Oka Roju’. After hearing the narration of the story, I was very much excited to do the film, but, in a dilemma, weather audience would accept me playing a ‘Girl Next Door’, role? But, after doing this film, after this film released, became a success, after I got recognition with Awards and appreciation, then I realized, every artist should experiment with their roles. After ‘Anukokunda Oka Roju’, film makers started approaching to me to make me act in many realistic films, Horror Jorner films and characters similar to that of ‘Anukokunda Oka Roju’. I was striving to show variation in each film I do. That is how, ‘Mantra’ happened, that turned out to be a successful film again and after some years, ‘Mangala’. AW: What do you have to say about ‘Item Numbers’ & not important roles that you have done? Charmi: I have just done these to experiment. Yes, I do agree that I have made mistake in choosing certain films that projected me only as a glamour doll and nothing else. But, in 100 films of yours, there would be atleast 10 to 20 films that are a bad choice. As far as Item numbers are concerned, I am okay with them, consider them getting more popularity for me. Even in B – Town, many Heroines turn out to be Item Girls too. I don’t find any harm in being an Item Girl, once in a while. AW: You have bagged an excellent opportunity, acting with Amitabh in ‘Buddah Hoga Tera Baap’. How do you feel? Charmi: I can’t express how did I felt, when Director Puri Jagannath has told me I would be playing a role with Amitabh. At first, I refused to believe this. Every day, each moment was memorable while shooting with Amitabhji in the film. Today, I am recognized for my role in the film, the film itself turned out to be a great success; I am also getting more offers from B – Town. I am happy that I have achieved all that recognition and still having work in hands. I am more than greatful to Director Puri Jagannath, who has given me an opportunity of life time, acting with Amitabh ji. AW: coming to your personal life, what are you as a person? Charmi: I am very naughty girl. My parents, till date, have a very tough time handling me when I am at home. I love cooking; being at home when I am not working, watch as many movies as I can. When I go crazy, I will be behaving weird, playing pranks on people around me, shouting, jumping and with full of life,. I am sure, even at the shooting location, people would be thinking, ‘What she is doing’. But, this is how I am. I believe in living in today. But, all thanks to everyone who has been responsible for my success today. Thanks for accepting me as a Heroine and thanks for believing in my work. Well, my interaction with Charmi started off formally, but ended up knowing What she is as a person.

An entire film based on a question given and the clue for it to be found. A film shot in an single room. Except for 3 known faces, rest of the star cast of the film, includes Software Professionals from ‘Mahindra Satyam’. This is what anyone who has seen and known about the recent release ‘Key’ would say. Now, let’s chat with the Pillar behind this film to commence, the director of the film, Nagendra Prasad; AW: If I say, entering into this Industry is a Journey, then how so you define your directorial Journey? Nagendra: Yes, right from the thought of becoming a director, to my first film, ‘Key’s release, I consider this as my journey itself. I always wanted to become a director. This thought has driven me to pursue Mass Communications from Central University. After that, for almost 8 years, I have working in the Programming Department in various Television Channels. With all the experience and goodwill I have earned all these years, I have directed ‘Key’. And here I am today. AW: Well, but what made you to chose a Story line, that is very different from a regular Cinema? Nagendra: I only thought that I want to prove what I am, is the reason behind choosing to direct a Psychological Thriller like ‘Key’. And I thank Jagapathi Babu, for acting a role in this film that turned out to be one of the major USPs (Unique Selling Point) for this film, and supporting me for my work, throughout the making of this film. AW: Why a Psychological Thriller? Nagendra: Why not? According to me, Cinema is an effective medium, where our thoughts can be communicated to the audience. And I took this subject as a challenge. There are no action sequences, songs (except one promotional song), intimate sequences between the lead pair, and not extra ordinary locations. But, still the film is earning good reviews today. I am more than happy. AW: Do you want to stick to experimental flicks like this, further? Nagendra: No, not at all. Even I am keen in directing a Commercial Cinema, project the elements of love, action, sentiment, comedy, romance as per my idea and convince the audience. it was to give a good start and because of the subject I have chosen to make my directorial debut with ‘Key’. AW: About the Star cast of the film? Nagendra: There are three well known faces that appear in the film. One is Jagapathi Babu, the other two are Swapna and Deepthi Vajpai, who have created their identity as News Presenters in Popular Television Channels. Rest all are Software Professionals from ‘Mahindra Satyam’. I just wanted to make the film feel real and this is the reason behind selecting the star cast. AW: About the Technical Crew? Nagendra: Camera work plays a vital role in the film. I can understand how difficult it is to shoot the entire film, in a single room and yet show variations in the sequences on screen. All the credit goes to the Cameraman of the film, P G Vinda, who is an award winning Cameraman for his work in the films like ‘Grahanam’. Moreover, ‘Key’ movie is made under the digital format. Though this film has no songs in it, there is a promotional song and Back ground score, this work is done by Vijay Kurakula, who’s extra ordinary work was appreciated earlier, in the films like ‘A Film by Arvind’ and ‘Rakta Charitra’. The back ground score is the Soul for this film. And yes, the producer of the film, Sukumar Reddy. He supported me throughout making the film. I would appreciate my entire Direction team members. The reason, ‘Key’ completed its shooting and released in a desired deadline, is only because of the team effort of everyone related to this film. AW: Any Hurdles in the initial stages of your career? Nagendra: I feel lucky enough to not to face much of a problem in getting into films, directing my first film. I always had a passion for Cinema, studied the subject related to it, got into Television in order to understand the Medium and then to my first film. Till date, I have achieved whatever I dreamed of. Hope even in future I achieve many more successful films. AW: Any suggestion to the newcomers who aspire to become the Directors? Nagendra: Hmmm, Yes, this is not a suggestion, but I am sharing whatever I have observed. I feel independent film making, is the growing phenomena in the industry today. If you aspire to become a Director, then don’t be in a thought that only Commercial Cinema can prove your worth. You can start of as a Director, directing Short films, Documentaries and then aiming of directing a Cinema. Even, Award Winning Directors like Neelakanta, started their Career by directing Short films. It is the passion of becoming the director that should drive you and not the thought of becoming successful and earning recognition overnight. AW: What do you have to say to the audience? Nagendra: ‘Key’ is not a Cinema with all the elements you look for in a Cinema, but, it is definitely a Commercial Cinema. If you are planning to watch ‘Key’, then come to the theater without any expectations. I am confident that ‘Key’ would not disappoint you. It was a great experience in speaking with this director. Hope Nagendra Prasad would flourish as a Director in this industry.

He has debuted in the industry as a character artist, has done many films as a Villain, then as a Character Artist, and then turned a Hero. Initially he has done some films as a Hero that were Heroine oriented, and soon donned a image of a family Hero, then tried some serious characters and now experimental films. He is none other than Hero Srikanth. His recent release, Neelakanta’s Directorial ‘Virodhi’, is earning good amount of reviews. In this regard, I have happened to meet the Actor. He was well behaved, appeared to be serious, but, has his witty side, on the other hand. Let me share the talk we had, were the Actor shares his experience about working in ‘Virodhi’, his career graph and more; AW: Hi Sir, congratulations on the success of ‘Virodhi’Srikanth: Hi thanks a lot. AW: So, just move some months back, and we want to know how did ‘Virodhi’ happened Srikanth: Well, you know how creative Director Neelakanta is. He might be not many films old, but, his style of making a cinema is definitely to be appreciated. After taking a break from films, for almost 1+ year, Neelakanta has approached me for narrating the script. After listening to the same, there was like a kind of intuition that came into my mind on the film to be sure shot success. So, I immediately agreed to do ‘Virodhi’. AW: You seem to be experimenting with your roles these days?Srikanth: Yes, but, if I appear in same old regular family stories, or comic jorner films, people would recognize me for the same. Initially I have done these films in order to get the identity in the industry and also to earn my livelihood. Today, I have earned whatever I want. So, this is a time for me to showcase my Acting Skills by acting in various jorners of films. This is the reason for me to try out the roles in the films like ‘Mahatma’ and now ‘Virodhi’. AW: But, don’t you think in the process of you experimenting with the roles, the film maker would be at a stake?Srikanth: Tell me one thing, why would any Director and film maker approach me, if they do not have confidence in me? No film maker would make a Movie to be a flop. The success or the failures of the films are a total probability. I work to give my 100% in every film. It is upon the audience, how they take these films as. AW: Coming back to ‘Virodhi’, you have paired up with Kamalini Mukherjee for the first time in this film. Could you share your working experience with her?Srikanth: Kamalini is one such Actress in the T – Town, who has to be applauded for her amazing acting skills. I have seen her enacting the situations, with her face and eye expressions, that are not possible to many of other Top Heroines. Kamalini is the Actress who believes in doing quality films rather than quantity of the number of films. I am really glad that I have worked with her. AW: and about the Director of the film, NeelakantaSrikanth: What can I say about him? He is already a critically acclaimed Director, who has won National Award for his work. His films, ‘Show’ and ‘Missamma’ are popular till date. As far as ‘Virodhi’ is concerned the way the Neelakanta has dealt with the sensitive story line, it is not an easy task. But, seeing at the success of the film, it is once again proved that Neelakanta is one such Director, who is worth of being a Top most director in Telugu Cinema. He is very high in technicalities, knows what he has to do, and at the same time respects the others for their experience and knowledge. Good that I have had a opportunity to work with such a Director. AW: this film has been produced by your Brother. Any particular reason?Srikanth: his passion towards films and nothing else. When everything else, including the star cast of the film, there was a dilemma as to who will produce the film. Then my brother came into picture. Since, we could not afford to lose such a good script from hand, my brother decided to produce the film. AW: ‘Virodhi’ has been getting mixed reviews. What’s your take on this?Srikanth: ‘Virodhi’ is definitely an experimental film. Then it is quite common that the film will earn mixed reviews from the critics. But, we are confident that ‘Virodhi’ will be more successful, moving further. And, I once again request all the audience to watch such a good film, in theaters and not in pirated CD’s. So, this is what I had an opportunity to speak to the Actor. We wish ‘Virodhi’, to be a successful film, ahead.
