Come May 10, Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra have more reason to celebrate their most recent movie together Barfi. The superhit flick from Anurag Basu is all set to release in Turkey tomorrow, in almost 40 theaters. This is a great achievement since it is the first movie from India that would be having a mainstream release.
Barfi with its enchanting storyline of the life of a deaf and dumb boy, his pranks and flippancy in the beautiful hill station of Darjeeling is definitely an entertainer to anyone. The movie will be released with Hindi audio but with Turkish subtitles for the local folk.
Ranbir Kapoor says, "Turkey is a place where my grandfather (Raj Kapoor) has a great following even today. To see my film getting a wide theatrical release in the same country is a huge compliment. I am very excited about this."
The actor who got the best actor award in several award functions for his exceptional skills is hoping that the Turkish people embrace it like Indians did. Anurag Basu on the other hand cannot contain his happiness at the news. "I am extremely happy that a story I have lived with over so many years has in the last few months received global recognition and now is geared towards greater opportunities, including mainstream releases in non-traditional markets," said Basu.
Accolades galore for the masterpiece of a picture. If you haven't watched the movie yet, just buy a copy and watch it already!
