Super star Amitabh Bachchan has been voted as the greatest Bollywood star in a recently held UK poll, held to commemorate 100 years of Indian cinema.
The actor bagged maximum number of votes from his fans, critics and film fraternity to emerge at the top of the survey called '100 Greatest Bollywood Stars'.
In his successful career span stretching over 40 years, the 70-year-old actor doled out a slew of blockbuster hits like Deewar, Sholay, Zanjeer, Don, Amar Akbar, Anthony and more. Not just that, the actor had had an equally successful run in the small screen with the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
This isn't the first of its kind of honor to be given to Big B. In fact, he was the first start to be honored with a wax statue at the Madame Tussauds. The actor was recently called to represent the country at the Olympics by bearing the torch for London 2012 Games.
"If you take longevity, impact, number of fans and varied body of work into account then Amitabh Bachchan is the greatest movie star in the history of global cinema. No other movie star has remained at the very top for as long as he has or made a positive impact on the lives of so many," said Asjad Nazir, showbiz editor of a popular Britsh magazine.
Madhuri Dixit topped the survey among Bollywood's female actress.
