Hip-hop rapper Jay Z's 'Magna Carta Holy Grail” topped the Billboard 200 weekly chart just on its opening day on Wednesday. It is Jay Z's 13th No. 1 album at the Billboard, the maximum by a solo artist in the history of the chart.
"Magna Carta Holy Grail" sold a whopping 528,000 copies just in its debut week, outclassing the industry forecasts.
Industry experts at Billboard had predicted the album to sell as many as 500,000 copies, barring the 1 million copies that Samsung had purchased before the release of the album.
Samsung handed out copies of the album as a digital download to its users, ahead of the album's public release.
R&B singer Ciara occupied the second slot with 59,000 copies sold of her self-titled album in its maiden week.
