Germany has reached to the top in Group D at the FIFA 2010 on Wednesday as it scored 1-0 win over Ghana in a group match. Surprisingly, Germany is followed by Ghana with four points and has advanced to the round of 16.
Australia also retained its place in the round of 16 with four points but lies behind Ghana in terms of goals made in the group matches. Australia defeated Serbia with a 2-1 score in another group match.
Ghana players hugged each other, waved their country's flag and ran to the corner where their supporters were cheering and dancing.
Germany had been in danger of failing to advance from the group stage for the first time, but the three-time champions kept the upper hand throughout the match and got the victory they needed. They'll play England on Sunday, another European power that won to stay alive on Wednesday.
