With just two days to go for the titanic semi final clash of the cricket world cup 2011 between arch rivals India and Pakistan at Mohali in Punjab, Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik today warned his country’s cricket team members not to indulge in any sort of match fixing.
Malik told journalists in Karachi that he had asked Pakistan team members not to indulge in match fixing and said he was keeping a close watch on their movements and activities.
He said that the team members are all clean men but still the Pakistani intelligence has been asked to keep a close watch and track their movements. “We know very well who is meeting them and what they are talking on their phones and I warn them not to take to match fixing,” he said.
He said that the government has taken precautions to ensure that members would not resort to match fixing after the bitter experience with some players in London. Expressing satisfaction at the security being provided to the Pakistani team members in India, the Pakistani Minister asked his team to play for the country with dedication.
The high voltage semi final match will be guarded by thousands of security men and a specially trained 1000 commandos will keep a vigil for any trouble makers during the match.
