Former Pakistan captain Inzamam ul-Haq has agreed to work as coach with Afghanistan cricket team for a period of two years. Kabir Khan, former Afghanistan coach, said that Inzi agreed to sign a proper coaching contract for two-year period with the Afghanistan Cricket Board.
Kabir Khan, who is a national selector in Pakistan, told PTI that, “I spoke to Inzamam and he has accepted a two-year contract with the Afghanistan team which will do them a lot of good.” Kabir has been with the Afghanistan team for many years and seen their rise in the international cricket. According to him, Inzamam tasted success and enjoyed his experience as batting coach in Zimbabwe.
“Inzamam is satisfied with what he saw in Zimbabwe and believes that the Afghanistan team has good cricket talent and can move ahead,” Kabir added.
Inzamam had a vast International cricket experience of having played 120 Tests and 388 ODIs for Pakistan. He recently agreed to be batting consultant for Afghanistan’s tour of Zimbabwe where Afghan grabbed a historic series win.
Kabir said, “Inzamam is a cricket great and he can do a lot to improve their batting standards. And his calibre and stature is such he will remain above any petty politics which have hurt Afghanistan cricket.”
Inzamam also had a similar two-year offer from Pakistan Cricket Board, which did not work out due to financial matters.
