Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has become the top all-rounder in Tests beating Bangladesh’s legendary all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, according to the latest rankings posted by ICC.
Jadeja’s tremendous show with the ball as well as bat in the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka has helped the Saurashtra all rounder to get the top spot in the rankings. Shakib Al Hasan who has 431 points currently is 7 points behind Jadeja, who has 438 points.
The left arm spin bowler has also successfully maintained the first position in the latest rankings of Test bowlers.
In the second test match which India won by an innings and 53 runs to seal the series as well, Jadeja scored an unbeaten 70 and took a 5-wicket haul. He earned total of seven Sri Lankan wickets in the match.
Responding to the news, Indian captain Virat Kohli wrote a special message for the “sword master”.
Big Congratulations to our sword master Mr Jadeja for becoming the Number 1 test all rounder with @ashwinravi99. Well done Jaddu! @imjadeja

Ravindra Jadeja, who comes from a Rajput family, is famous for celebrating special knocks by twirling his bat similar to swords.
However, Jadeja has been suspended from playing the third and last Test match of the series against SL due to the breach of ICC’s code of conduct during the second Test match. According to the reports, team management could provide a chance to Kuldeep Yadav to play in the third Test series in Jadeja’s absence. India has already taken a decisive lead in the 3-match series by winning first 2 test matches against a highly dysfunctional SL side.
The aggressive allrounder, however, responded in his own style on the ban on Twitter.
