Virat Kohli's bold batting style was key to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's commanding 60-run triumph over the Punjab Kings on Thursday. His match-winning score of 92 runs was a combination of conventional technique and calculated risk-taking, achieved in just 47 deliveries. Kohli had come under fire for his low strike rate in recent weeks, but he silenced his detractors with his explosive performance in Dharamsala. Speaking after the game, Kohli emphasized that he prioritizes improving the quality of his game over personal milestones, and that he is committed to constantly reinventing his approach. "For me, quality is more important than quantity. My years of experience have taught me to practice less but stay mentally sharp. I try to apply this philosophy in every training session, along with challenging myself to improve specific aspects of my game."

Kohli has been using the slog-sweep shot frequently this year, but he admitted that he never practiced it beforehand. He believes his extensive experience in the game has given him the knowledge and confidence to play the shot successfully. When facing spinners, Kohli mentally prepared himself for the situation and relied on his previous success with the shot. He understands the risk involved in playing the slog-sweep, but he was able to overcome any doubts and maintain a high strike rate. His goal was to expose the field on the backfoot and help his team score more runs.

The RCB bowling squad put in a precise and efficient showing, keeping PBKS to a modest 181 runs even with a solid performance by Rilee Rossouw. Though RCB now have 10 points from 12 matches, they'll need other matches to go their way if they hope to stay in the playoffs race.
