As Pakistani military forces continue to encroach the bilateral ceasefire and resort to unwarranted firing from across the Line of Control (LOC) in Pooch, the Border Security Force (BSF) has decided to beef up the military strength in the join checkpost ahead of the beating-the-retreat ceremony to be held at Attari on August 15.

Talking about this, DIG (Amritsar sector) MS Farooqui said, "Two battalions of the BSF will be deployed on the Indo-Pak joint check post in Attari and its vicinity during the Independence Day function."

"We have deputed additional force to guard the joint check post and beating-the-retreat ceremony. We are expecting around 20,000-25,000 visitors on the Independence Day," said Farooqui.

Following the recent aggression along the LOC, the forces have grown more vigilant. Furthermore, additional forces and support weapons have been delegated. The Indian army is also likely to audit its exigency plan in anticipation of further aggression during beating-the-retreat ceremony, which is likely to have around 10,000 visitors every day.

"For the Independence Day celebrations we have made ample security arrangements," Farooqui said, adding that the Indian Army is all geared up to face any contingency.
