Phoenix police arrested a 58-year-old-grandmother for trying to peddle drugs through her 9-year-old granddaughter.

San Juanita Carabajal, the accused, had reportedly packed away several sachets of narcotics along with pills and had secretly instructed her on exactly where to hide the “stuff” in her father's car. Not just that, Carabajal had also asked the little child to carry one of the pouches to school and hand it to her teacher.

On Monday,  the officials from the Pioneer Elementary School called in the cops after they grew suspicious on the content of her packet.

The school resource officer did a field test on the substance and was shocked to find cocaine.

Police revealed that “Carabajal has limited custody of her granddaughter and allegedly provided the drugs to further a plot to obtain full time custody.”

Police believe that Carabajal wanted to throw her son-in-law in hot waters so that she could become the permanent custodian of the child.

Carabajal  is currently in Maricopa County Jail. She has been booked for child abuse.
