A man lying on the street died after he was hit by a vehicle on Saturday.
Phoenix sergeant Tommy Thompson said the 40-year-old man was lying on the eastbound left turn lanes of Camelback Road, just west of the Interstate 17, when he was hit to death by an oncoming vehicle. The accident took place around 9:30 p.m., said police.
A westbound vehicle spotted the man and proceeded to stop. However, an eastbound Nissan Altima failed to spot him until it was "too late," said Thompson.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his fatal injuries.
The driver of the Altima, a 19-year-old male, was checked and he showed no signs of impairment.
The victim is yet to be identified.
