The Chandler man who fatally shot another man at an altercation inside a a local Walmart said that he did it in self-defence. An argument between the two men turned into fist-fights and soon one man shot the other, according to the police.
Joe Favazzo, Chandler Police spokesman stated that the incident of shooting took place at around 4 PM, when the authorities were informed by the store located near Alma School and Warner roads.
Police reportedly found the victim Kriston Charles Belinte Chee, 36 and the suspect Kyle Wayne Quadlin, 25, at the store. Favazzo stated that Quadlin and Chee got into an argument at the service counter of the store which soon turned into a physical fight.
Quadlin reportedly said that he Chee when he felt that he was on the verge of losing the fight and might lose his life. So he shot Chee in self-defence and fled. The two men were strangers and had never met before.
Detectives investigating the case via CCTV video footage of Walmart verified the description of Quadlin regarding the events leading to the shooting of Chee. Favazzo said that now the case would depend on what the witnesses, which were several, have to say about the incident on Sunday afternoon.
As of now Quadlin has not been arrested. The investigation reports will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, which would decide whether Quadlin will be booked for a crime.
