India claims diplomatic win over Pakistan at UN!

India claimed diplomatic victory over Pakistan at the United Nations, citing Pakistan’s campaign to highlight Kashmir at the United Nations had failed. While, the Ministry of External Affairs stopped short of giving a definitive answer on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plans to attend the November SAARC summit in Islamabad.

The MEA said the question of Mr. Modi’s visit to Islamabad could not be answered in a “yes” or “no”.

The External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said that India was "sensitising the world" about how Pakistan was sponsoring terrorism.

The MEA spokesperson  said that, “SAARC stands for regional cooperation which is underpinned by peace and stability. The biggest threat to peace and stability we all know is terrorism.

Squarely addressing this will benefit the entire region and also strengthen regional cooperation. I am sure all member-countries of SAARC need to reflect on this. Coordination with Bangladesh, with Afghanistan — I cannot go into that but certainly all victims of terrorism stand in solidarity.”

"Our actions speak for themselves and you can see our actions are already delivering results," Swarup said, a day after Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif aggressively raised the Kashmir issue in his speech at the UN General Assembly in New York.

"No one, and I mean no other country, at the UN has spoken on the subject Nawaz Sharif devoted 80 per cent of his time to," Swarup said.

"Four of the five members of the Security Council have also spoken and their statements are also available for everyone to see," he added.

"It makes no mention of the dossier. It does not talk about the Secretary General wanting to intervene in Jammu and Kashmir. In fact, the Secretary General has very wisely said that this issue needs to be settled bilaterally," Swarup said.

"So, I think this itself makes very clear how successful Pakistan's diplomatic strategy has been," he added.
