Confirmed cases in Arizona surpass 900 as 100 new cases are added to the toll on Sunday, March 29, 2020. The total confirmed cases as of now are at 919.
Reports from the Arizona Department of Health Services have also mentioned two additional deaths, further taking the death toll to 17. The community spread in Arizona is still on the rise.
Amidst the tests being conducted, the public health labs confirmed 57 cases while the private labs confirmed a total of 862 cases so far.
The largest surge in the number of cases was reported on March 27, 2020 with 157 positive cases in a day. For daily updates on the situation, the health department has asked the citizens to only rely on the official websites and not the imposter ones.
The Maricopa County, which is the most populous county in the state reported the maximum positive cases, taking the toll to 545 at the moment.
The second highest number of confirmed cases is at Pima County, a total of 153 cases at the moment.
Aside from them, 12 other counties in Arizona have confirmed cases of the coronavirus, enabling further community spread. The only county which hasn’t reported any positive cases yet is Greenlee.
Dr Cara Christ, who is the Arizona Health Director stated saying that the peak in the confirmed cases in Arizona is expected to be around in April, with the peak in the hospitalizations in the month of May.
The executive orders imposed by Governor Doug Ducey are advised to be followed strictly in Arizona which entail the shutting down of the bars and dine in restaurants. They have also advised to practice social distancing for better health in due course. Theatres, gyms and other possible public places in Arizona are also closed.
