In a shocking development, Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that India is behind Khalistani terrorist’s killing that took place recently in Canada. In a smart move, India expelled top Canadian diplomat Olivier Sylvester. Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was recently killed in Canada. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) summoned the Canadian High Commissioner, Cameron MacKay and informed about the decision of expelling the Canadian diplomat. "The decision reflects Government of India’s growing concern at the interference of Canadian diplomats in our internal matters and their involvement in anti-India activities," told the official statement of MEA.
Olivier Sylvester has been asked to leave India in five days. Before this, Canada expelled a top Indian diplomat Pavan Kumar Rai who is in Canada. The High Commissioner of Canada to India was summoned by the Minister of External Affairs today. The Indian government also responded and rejected the allegations made by the Prime Minister of Canada. India said that Canada has been providing shelter for Khalistani terrorists. United States of America said that they are deeply concerned about the allegations.
The security has been tightened outside the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi. Hardeep Singh Nijjar was the head of Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) and it is banned in India. He was a Canadian citizen and is wanted in several cases in India. Despite seeking his extradition several times, it was never approved. Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead on June 18th outside a gurdwara in Canada's British Columbia province. He died on spot due to multiple gunshot wounds.
