Bharat Forge plans for integrated auto components hub in Nellore

Bharat Forge, a forging major, is planning to set up an integrated auto components hub in Nellore, by investing nearly Rs. 1,200 crore in the project. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the firm with the Government of Andhra Pradesh during the inauguration event of the three-day CII Partnership Summit and Sunrise AP Investment Meet.
Bharat Forge Chairman Baba Kalyani said, “We plan to set up a fairly large integrated automotive component manufacturing hub in Nellore district with an investment of about Rs. 1,200 crore and will employ 3,000 and odd people directly and almost similar number of people indirectly. Hopefully, we will create a substantial ancillary economic structure.”
Announcing to the plans, the CII National Committee on Defence chairman Mr. Kalyani said that one more MoU has been signed with the State for the set up of a multi-modal facility.
Mr. Kalyani said, “Second, we propose to make a multi-modal manufacturing facility for industrial components, defence and aerospace components including a supply chain and this will be located in Anantapur district.” He added that the finalization of the land was already made for both these locations, by the company. “I think in the next few weeks, we will actually get physical possession of the land and start our work,” he added.
The world’s largest forging company Bharat Forge is based in Pune. Its manufacturing facilities spread across Germany, India Sweden and France, manufacturing a range of components for the automotive and non-automotive sectors.
