The second installment of Lionsgate's post apocalyptic saga 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' is off to a strong start at the American box office. And going by the initial response, this faster, sleeker and grander sequel is being lapped up by the audience. The grosses are slowly catching up with the film garnering a whopping $25.2 million domestically in Thursday and Friday shows.
With Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence back with her bow and arrow as heroine Katniss Everdeen as well as other strong casts (some new faces) like Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sam Claflin and Jena Malone, the thriller is going good at the theaters.
However, it remains to be seen if it's sales can match up to $152.5 million business of the original movie released in 2012.
