IPS officer mowed down by mining mafia tractor in MP

The illegal mining mafia in Madhya Pradesh has served a warning on the government and police officials that it would not tolerate being haunted by any body by killing a sincere IPS officer today.

The 2009 batch officer, who was on probation as Sub-Divisional Police Officer in Morena district, was unceremoniously mowed down and crushed to death by a tractor when he had tried to stop it this afternoon at Morena.

On a tip off, Narendra Kumar went to the spot and stopped the tractor carrying illegally quarried stones. Instead of bringing the vehicle to a halt, the driver ran over him intentionally, according the DIG Chambal range.

By standers and passers by took the seriously injured young officer to hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. His wife, an IAS officer, has also been working in the state. Police said she was on leave for the past few days. The tractor driver was taken into custody.

Recently, a freelance journalist, his wife and his two daughters were ghastly murdered by the mining mafia. (J)
