Minor tremors were felt in several parts of Maharashtra including Pune, Satara, Mumbai, Sangli, Kolhapur and Ratnagiri district. The tremors were recorded as 4.1 on rector scale.
Big B Amitabh Bachchan has tweeted that even he felt tremors at his residence in Mumbai.
Notably, this is the second time that tremors were felt in the country within a week. It may be recalled that a few days back earthquake has hit the coastal areas of the country followed by a major earthquake in Indonesia that was recorded over 8 on rector scale.
A tsunami alert was also issued by the government that was later withdrawn. The home ministry has even pressed eight rescue teams into action in Chennai as a precautionary measure. The climate, on the other hand, turned suspicious in Andhra Pradesh as heavy downpours were witnessed in the last few days.
The latest tremors in Maharashtra are giving raise to many doubts among the public whereas the government did not react on it so far.
Instead of pressing teams into action when the neighboring counties witness calamities, the governments should keep the public informed and alarm them. Experts are of the opinion that climate can be very deceiving and it would better to stay alert.
