Saraswati is the goddess of learning, arts and crafts. The Matsya Pura reveals that Saraswati evolved from the mouth of Brahma. Her beauty and grace made Brahma to pursue her. A head of Brahma appeared as she fled in different directions, thus five heads are attributed to Brahma. Saraswati is the most unique creation of Brahma.
Saraswati is equivalent to the classical Goddess Minerva and the Teutonic Goddess Fira. The lotus and the moon, which are the symbols of eternal womanhood, are associated with Saraswati.
