When Louise Brown was born 35 years ago, it caused big furore among the religious leaders who were opposed to birth using artificial means.

Cut to the present, world's first test tube baby is today a shining example of a medical feat that gave life to her and million other.

Louise Brown was born at Oldham General Hospital on July 25, 1978.

Her parents, Lesley and John took up the IVF treatment after they failed to beget a child naturally.

Speaking about reproductive biologist Robert Edwards, the couple expressed their deep gratitude to the man who contributed immensely to the world of medical science with his invention. They said people all across the world are indebted to him as well as  gynecologist Patrick Steptoe.

Louise Brown said that when she was born, detractors opposed the birth saying that it was messing with God and nature, “but it worked and obviously it was meant to be.”
