In order to be fit and healthy people go for jogging or running in the mornings, the new research says jogging can benefit the regular joggers to live more than that of runners. In 12 year close observation the research team found that the mortality and jogging are somehow interlinked.
According Forbes’ item, the research team from Denmark observed over 5000 people taking part in the Copenhagen City Heart Study, and learned whether they were non-joggers, or joggers who kept a slow, moderate, or strenuous pace. The participants’ health was tracked over the next 12 years, and along with their mortality concern, and found that 28 of the joggers and 128 of the non-joggers died.
Joggers of mild and moderate intensity had a lower risk of death than the strenuous and high level joggers. In fact, the fast-paced joggers had about the same rate of mortality as sedentary people (desk-bound). They have abstracted that death rate was connected to the style of jogging also.
"The U-shaped association between jogging and mortality suggests there may be an upper limit for exercise dosing that is optimal for health benefits," said study author Peter Schnohr. "If your goal is to decrease risk of death and improve life expectancy, jogging a few times a week at a moderate pace is a good strategy. Anything more is not just unnecessary, it may be harmful."
However jogging with highest speed cannot be considered in this study, because they said mild speeds encouraging lengthiest life. Here they have supported mild to moderate exercise, like brisk walking,
When coming to speeds the suggested speed in the current study, jogging just three times per week, for less than 2.5 hours/week was associated with the lowest overall mortality risk.
Authors of the study has written that, "if the goal is to decrease the risk of death and improve life expectancy, going for a leisurely jog a few times per week at a moderate pace is a good strategy. Higher doses of running are not only unnecessary but may also erode some of the remarkable longevity benefits conferred by lower doses of running."
Here we should also mention that, health is not only coupled with jogging, it is purely or partially related to the lifestyle like food habits, diet, stress, heredity, sleeping hours and others. They just have considered jogging and life expectancy relationship and postulated that slow and mild jogging daily can help people to stay on earth for long time.
