Bollywood producer Ekta Kapoor's firm Balaji Telefilms has been found guilty of tax evasion of upto 30 crores. Three days ago, nearly 100 income tax officers raided the home and offices of Ms Kapoor in Mumbai.
Furthermore, while she was interrogated, sources said that Ms Kapoor, whose father Jeetendra a veteran Bollywood actor, said that she was not involved with the financial management of the company.
Fact-fully, the firm has agreed to pay the taxes it due and a penalty.
According to the sources, in order to avoid taxes, her company had unduly increased in levelsof the costs of its different projects. Balaji produces an overwhelmingly popular family soap operas and cost-efficient films while its new movie, Shootout at Wadala starring John Abraham and Kangana Ranaut, releases today.
