The BCCI secretary, Anurag Thakur has condemned the terror attack in Gurdaspur and said that India and Pakistan series is unlikely to happen.
After a gun battle in the Gurdaspur district in Punjab, Thakur, who is also a Member of Parliament from India's ruling BJP, cited the incident as an example of why the cricket series with Pakistan is not right at this time.
Thakur told ESPNcricinfo that, "Even today there is a terrorist attack, in Gurdaspur. On one hand there is a rise in terrorist activity from Pakistan, on the other you can't expect to play a cricket series with Pakistan."
"For me the safety and security of my countrymen is more important than a cricket series. This is not the way to go ahead. I was never against the dialogue process. At the same time, if you do not have good relations, you can't have good cricket," Thakur added.
India-Pakistan series 2015
As a part of six series MOU, which is applicable under the new Future Tours Program system of the ICC until 2022, Pakistan was supposed to host India in December 2015.
Since 2007, not a single bilateral Test series was played by India against Pakistan. However, India hosted Pakistan between December 2012 and January 2013 for two T20Is and three ODIs.
