Apple is all set to add some bling to its collection with its upcoming iPhone 5S. Ask how? Well, Apple's flagship model will now be available in gold. Yes, you got that right.
“Until now, Apple has only offered the iPhone in black and white, (or 'slate' and 'silver' for the iPhone 5).” However, a report in TechCrunch claims that Apple plans to add a gold color option for its forthcoming iPhone 5S, citing multiple sources.
The device is unlikely to be "a totally blinged-out gold," according to TechCrunch's MG Siegler, but a more subtle "champagne" colour - similar to the previously released gold iPod Mini.
A gold iPhone is likely to be a rage in the Chinese and Indian Markets, where the color is quite popular. Once dismissed as gaudy, gold is now the in-thing.
The revelation comes after French website MacBoutic published photos of the rumoured gold iPhone 5S last week. BGR also published images of a champagne-coloured device and associated components earlier in the month.
Meanwhile, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has offered accurate information on Apple's product plans in the past, has published a research note claiming that the iPhone 5S will be available in gold.
Will the golden iPhone work as a Midas touch to redeem the frailing popularity of the phone? Well, that's only for time to tell.
