After introducing Meta AI to WhatsApp earlier this year, we continue to work on making our go-to messaging app even easier to use. From using MetaAI as a personal assistant to the director to making it available in Hindi through the app, all the features have helped users use WhatsApp hassle-free. Now WABeta says they are working on a new feature called Chat Memory. The purpose of this feature is to collect all the necessary information to better personalize your personal assistant for MetaAI. For example, if your chat assistant knows that you are a vegetarian, it will share the relevant recipes. However, this may be a feature that requires limits. This feature is currently under development and limited information is available. Let's see what you can do with this feature.
WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow Meta AI to automatically remember certain details previously shared with the chatbot, which will be introduced in a future update. This feature aims to provide users with better and more personalized answers based on the information Meta AI has about their preferences. Artificial intelligence will be able to remember all sorts of personal details, such as dietary habits such as vegetarianism, birthdays and personal preferences such as the tone of formal conversations. You can also track your allergies and interests, including your favorite books and preferences for documentaries and podcasts.
This storage feature is intended to significantly improve the personalization of meta-AI interactions. By storing this information, Meta's AI can provide suggestions, recommendations and answers tailored to your preferences and lifestyle. For example, when a user asks for food recommendations, Meta's AI avoids suggesting foods that the user has already said they don't like or are allergic to. This level of customization promotes more natural and engaging interactions, allowing Meta AI to act more like a personal assistant. According to the report, users have full control over what Meta AI remembers and can update or delete certain information at any time.
Several companies have already discontinued similar “storage” aspects. Microsoft developed a feature called Recall that has been constantly criticized for invading users' personal space. Similarly, Google Pixel released screenshots, a milder and more sensible version of Recall. With Pixel Screenshot, the company only allowed screenshots to be taken. This gives users the opportunity to decide which details they want to record. What's notable is that the WABeta report now also states that users can save whatever they want. However, we won't see this until the feature is released.
