Irregularities in coal purchase: Revanth Reddy

The TDP official spokesperson, Revanth Reddy has alleged that irregularities took place in the coal purchases by the state government in order to produce electricity. He has said that without discussion the terms and conditions, the government purchase coal. Addressing the media at the party office, he has alleged the involvement of big names from the state, He has said that over Rs. 325 crore rupees was exchanged and that he possessed all necessary evidence to support his statement.

Revanth Reddy has said that the electricity department is being taken care by the chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy himself and demanded that he should give an explanation to the public over the alleged irregularities. In fact, any government should first invite tenders from big companies off the shores and then only it should strike a deal and that too after looking at low cost and good quality. The government behaved in an opposite manner and benefitted a Gujarat based company, he added.

Further, he challenged the government to come before and make the details—pertaining to import of coal, cost, port area—public.  Acting on the allegations by TDP, the government gave explanation through AP Genco official Vijayanand. And the explanations are false, said Revanth Reddy.(Phani)
