Delhiites were left with violent blow of heatwave conditions on Sunday with the mercury mounting above 46 degree Celsius while it recorded the hottest day of the season so far in some parts of the capital. While the city's maximum temperature was recorded at 44.6 degree Celsius at Safdarjung station whose readings are considered the official figures for the capital. Nevertheless, Palam area recorded 46.1 degree Celsius while Ayanagar weather station recorded 45.8 degree Celsius and Ridge station recorded 45 degrees. Other weather stations in the capital had the maximum readings in Jafarpur - 44.4 C, Majafgarh - 44.4 C, Delhi University - 44.2 C and Peetampura - 43.6 degree Celsius.
A Meteorological Department official explained that heat wave conditions are prevailing in the national capital as well as suggested further rise in temperatures in the coming days while he stressed that Monday is going to be hotter with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to remain at 45 and 27 deg C respectively. In fact, Sunday had the day temperature which was five degree above normal while the minimum temperature at 25.9 degrees Celsius was normal for this part of the season having fluctuated humidity connecting 68 per cent and 19 per cent.
