Zander Welton can now heave a sigh of relief. An Arizona Court has allowed the the 5-year-old CBD oil as a medical treatment for seizures.

Maricopa County, Arizona was sued by the ACLU on behalf of Zander Welton in October. Authorities had earlier threatened to sue anyone found to be using CBD oil or any other marijuana extracts for medical treatment.

The argument extended to prevent use of the extracts by the county authorities was that they were not covered under the 2010 medical marijuana law of Arizona.

The contension was overruled and Judge Katherine Cooper while interpreting the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act said that the purpose of allowing marijuana for medicinal purpose will be defeated if the treatment options are limited to one form and disallowing another form for medicinal treatment.

Now Zander’s epileptic episodes can be easily treated without the fear of arrest by authorities. Earlier, the child had gone through brain surgery to try and control his epilepsy.
