Strong winter storm heading towards Arizona

After a much dry and warm spell, Arizonan’s must get set for bracing a very strong winter storm ahead. Chances for snow, rain and ice as big cool down is on its way. Though the day time high stood 75F in the valley but the storm system is seen approaching towards Arizona.

The best chances fall for Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning for a cool down when this agitated cold front moves in. Showers and a few thunderstorms all along the night with some heavy showers in overcast are likely. From a quarter to half an inch rainfall is expected to fall in the coming 24 hours, mountains along North and East may even see a slight more though. And wind gusts of upto 30mph are likely too. Blowing dust in areas surrounding West phoenix I10 and I 8 is possible.

Valley highs will fall to around 60s or even low as the cold air pushes in. While most of the US is bracing strong winter freeze, Arizona was warm until. But the cold front is likely to bring the temperatures to near normal and lower than the existing. But this front would not last long and warm weather is likely to come back by Friday afternoon.

Bitter cold arctic blast in the East coast continues to wreak havoc and the Californian belt is also expected to see more torrential rains, snow and strong winds. This winter storm in AZ would be bringing similar conditions to the valley.

Flagstaff and Williams are likely to see 1-3 inches of snow and Northern AZ ski resorts may even see over 5 inches snow. But the later Wednesday looks clear and weather would begin to get usual by the weekend.
