HHS of United States to grant $500K to Arizona to fight Coronavirus

An announcement has been made by the Health and Human Services of the United States on Wednesday where in it has announced an initial pledge of $500,000 to Arizona in order to fight the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

This announcement has been made after Arizona has confirmed a presumptive case of the coronavirus disease, by the Health and Human Services of the United States in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It has been said that these funds would be made use for monitoring the travelers, managing the data, lab equipment and for the other response tactics.

Alex Azar who is the secretary for Health and Human Services has said in a press release that the State and the local governments serves as a backbone of the public health system. He has added saying that the government of the state and the local government have been essential partners in the ongoing work in order to contain and to mitigate the COVID-19 from spreading in the United States.

The secretary for Health and Human Services has also said that the administration of Trump has been acting swiftly through all the avenues and it should be ensured that the state and local governments have the support that is needed in order to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

A letter has been sent by the U.S. Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema to the Vice President Mike Pence where in it has been calling for an action in order to protect the people of Arizona from the deadly COVID-19, on Wednesday.

Kyrsten Sinema has said in a press release, “In the face of a public health crisis, we must work together and share the burden of keeping Americans safe both here and abroad from a potential global pandemic.”

Dr. Cara Christ who is the director of the Arizona Department of the Health Services has said that around 250 travelers who are returning would be monitored for coronavirus by the state of Arizona.

The director of the Arizona Department has added saying that she and the other researchers are presently in the process of evaluating the best utilization of the initial funding and that they have also been planning to work with the local health partners for deciding how the funds will be having the most effective impact in the prevention of the coronavirus.

It has been said that the state of Arizona which has begun the same- day in- house testing on Monday has already tested around 34 people for coronavirus until Wednesday morning.

According to the records, the deadly coronavirus which has been named as COVID-19 has claimed lives of 11 people in the United States which includes 10 people who have died due to coronavirus in the state of Washington.
