For an actor as highly accomplished as Naseeruddin Shah, no role can be too challenging.
Over the years, we have seen the actor dabble off-beat and mainstream movies with great elan, slipping from comic to intense to iniquitous roles with aplomb. However, his next release “John Day” presents him in a never-before-kind of a role.
Get ready for a celluloid treat as Naseer slips into the role of a hardened avenger for the first time. Apparently, you will see the 63-year-old actor do some intense action stunts on the big screens for the first time.
Says director Ahishor Solomon, "There's one scene which has him running super fast, followed by some hardcore action, but he just refused to use a body double for it. In fact, he practised running at that speed for four consecutive nights and we completed the shot effortlessly."
Another scene has Shah biting at a goon's throat. Solomon adds, "Initially, Naseerji found the act to be unbelievable. But when I told him that I'd witnessed it in reality, he agreed to do it. He plays a distressed man who turns violent and the scene is in sync with the story of the film."
John Day is slated for release on September 13.
