Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last this morning in a private hospital in Mumbai. She passed away due to multiple-organ failure in Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai this morning. The 92-year-old singer will be cremated at Shivaji Park with full state honors and two days of mourning is announced by the Centre. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Mumbai to pay the last respects for the legendary singer. The entire Indian cinema is left in shock with her demise. Lata Mangeshkar was tested positive for coronavirus and she has been in hospital from the past 29 days. She is also diagnosed with Pneumonia and was kept on a ventilator. The doctors confirmed that her health condition worsened on February 5th after she recovered with time over the weeks.
Lata Mangeshkar has 30,000 songs to her credit in her career spanning for seven decades. She was the recipient of Padma Bhushan in 1969, Padma Vibhushan in 1999 and Bharat Ratna in 2001. Her contribution to Indian cinema is just irreplaceable and outstanding. She received several national and state awards in her career. Dr Pratiti Samdani and his team have been treating her from the past few days. All her family members and close relatives rushed to the hospital last evening. Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and others visited her in the hospital yesterday. She was diagnosed with Pneumonia in 2019 and was admitted to the same hospital and she recovered well.
Lata Mangeshkar was born in Indore and she started her career as a singer in 1942. Condolences are poured in from all the corners on her demise. Rest in peace Lata Mangeshkar.
