Flipkart is all set for “Big Billion Sale” season two, although it faced failure of ‘Big Billion Day’ last year. The second season of the “Big Billion Sale” will be held from 13 October 2015 to 17 October 2015 with discount sale. The second edition of the sale is a long event that runs for five days, unlike the first edition.
According to the company, the event of “Big Billion Sale” is an app-only shopping event to offer exciting discounts and sales to customers across over 70 product categories.
In a release, Flipkart said that, “Celebrating the start of festive season in India, Big Billion Days will be the ultimate shopping event for customers to shop for gifts and other items for friends and family.”
Special discounts will be offered on items such as footwear, furniture, mobiles, laptops, apparels, jewellery, toys, watches, large appliances and home furnishings.
Head of Commerce Platform, Flipkart & Chairman – Myntra, Mukesh Bansal, said,“India shops the most during this time of the year. With over 75 per cent of traffic coming via mobile, we expect this app only sale to be the biggest shopping event of the year. Bigger and better as compared to last year, we have worked towards ensuring a seamless shopping experience for our customers.”
“We have also ramped up our technology and supply chain support to ensure all our 50 million customers have the best ever mobile shopping experience,” Bansal added.
Flipkart organized ‘Big Billion Day’ last year to celebrate one billion journey, announcing deep product discounts across 70 categories. The event was planned with $100 million sales target in gross merchandise value. But, the day turned out to be failure and even founders of Flipkart, Binny Bansal and Sachin Bansal, had to apologize to customers for the troubles they faced.
This year, the company opened new fulfillment centers all through the country to cater the needs of probable customer demand and to ensure efficient delivery.
