Indiaspora has launched an across-the-board benevolent survey to determine issues of importance to the community and the diverse ways in which it collectively gives back.

Indiaspora is a top Indian-American organization, has set the first-ever survey of its kind that looks at the community engagement and attitude towards giving of Indian-Americans.

"Indian-Americans have the single highest income level of any group in the country and also account for one of the largest groups of individuals who are giving back," eminent Indian-American philanthropist and venture capitalist M R Rangaswami told PTI.

June 7, the preliminary outcome will be announced at the Indiaspora Philanthropy Summit in Washington D.C. while the published report coming out later this fall.

Indiaspora hopes that the data will be used by charitable giving and else nonprofit groups to better interpret and serve their specific constituencies in the community, in addition to better identifying issues that are of value to the Indian-American community.

"This is the first all-encompassing survey of its kind which will begin to examine how we as a community give back as well as what issues matter to us the most. We hope the information we gain from this will help us to not only increase the amount of giving by our community but also make it more impact and sustainable," Rangaswami said.

The summit is anticipated to be attended by a group of leading Indian-Americans, including Sunil Wadhwani, Atul Satija, Geeta Murali, Shaheen Mistry and Indians from assorted backgrounds and industries such as social impact investing, think tanks, higher education, government sectors, and major altruists.
