Dermatologists say that after crossing 40 years your skincare regimen must include both corrective and preventive measures.
As you age, your skin also ages and that change will be clearly visible to a naked eye.
This happens due to a decrease in the levels of collagen, elastin and natural oils that your skin requires to keep itself healthy.
Decrease in the levels of collagen makes the skin look dry, dull and lifeless.
Moreover, the skincare mistakes that you might have made during your younger age will show the effects after you cross 40.
40 is the age when you can visibly see wrinkles, fine lines, spots and others which deliberately tell you that you have crossed your youth.
At this age, your skincare routine must focus on correcting the present problems of skin and preventing further damage to the skin.
Here are some of the tips you can follow after 40 to get back the youthful skin:
Exfoliation is must
Include exfoliation in your skincare regimen at this age. Go to your favourite store and choose a scrub of your choice but make sure it is gentle on your skin.
If you have dry skin, choose a cream based scrub that will cleanse and add moisture to the skin.
Incase of oily skin, go for a gel based scrub that would regulate the oil flow and gives a squeaky clean skin.
Moisturize
As you age, the skin tends to become dry and loses many healthy fats.
This might also cause skin irritation, and loss of elasticity.
Make sure you use a gentle cleanser and a good face moisturizer afterwards that locks the moisture in the skin.
Spot correction
Acne, scars, pigmentation, dark spots are all the visible changes on your skin once you age.
So, you need to use a spot corrector cream or pen which mainly contains vitamin c and you must apply on the skin regularly till the spots fade away.
In case of medicated creams, consult a dermatologist before starting to use them.
Sunscreen
Sunscreen must be your essential part in the daily skincare routine.
It protects skin from harmful UV rays from the Sun which are responsible for causing skin ageing from early stages itself.
So, don't forget to apply a sunscreen with at least SPF 30.
A sunscreen lotion contains zinc oxide that helps your skin from skin damage caused by harmful rays.
Night cream
Use a night cream after you wash your face in the night.
This step will hydrate your skin and makes it supple and soft in the morning.
Water
Drinking sufficient water is the best remedy to heal your skin ailments.
Infact, one should start making this habit during the early stages.
Consume fresh fruits, mainly the ones with Vitamin C to get a glowing skin even during 40's.
