After a clean sweep in the ODI series, Team India started the T20 series on a positive note. India registered a six-wicket victory in the first T20 against West Indies. In the first T20 that took place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Team India won the toss and elected to bowl first. West Indies kept a remarkable score of 157 for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran (61), Kyle Mayers (31) and Kieron Pollard (24 not out) are the top scorers for the side. Among the Indian bowlers, Ravi Bishnoi (2/17), Harshal Patel (2/37) and Deepak Chahar (1/28) took the wickets and reported decent spells.
Chasing a target of 158, India completed the chase in 18.5 overs after losing 4 wickets. Rohit Sharma (40), Ishan Kishan (35) and Suryakumar Yadav (34 not out) are the top scorers among the Indian batsmen. Roston Chase (2/14), Fabian Allen (1/23) and Sheldon Cottrell (1/35) took the wickets among the bowlers of West Indies. Ravi Bishnoi has been named as the Player of the Match for his magical spell of 2/17 in his 4 overs. The second T20 match will take place tomorrow in Eden Gardens and the last one will take place on Sunday.
