Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin played a crucial part in taking the Aggies to the SEC. When the university moved out of the Big 12, it also quit its 118-year long rivalry with Texas. But Loftin has now made it clear that he still wants the Longhorns.
"I’ve always said 'anytime, anywhere,' although others [in the A&M administration] are not saying it that way anymore," Loftin told the San Antonio Express-News’ Brent Zwerneman. "I still think that, left to ourselves, we will find a way to get together."
Associate athletic director Jason Cook, however, doesn't share Loftin's sentiments.
"We hope to play them again in a BCS or playoff game at some point," Cook told the Express-News.
Texas knocked off A&M 27-25 the last time the two played in two years ago.
