A neighborhood in Peoria are hosting a haunted house to raise funds for an 11-year-old boy suffering from Cerebral Palsy.
Caleb was born with this physical disability and his life is confined to a wheelchair.
The poor boy moves around in a family minivan that doesn't have a wheelchair accessibility ramp. Since he is growing up, it's getting increasingly difficult for his family to lift him in the car. Installing an accessibility ramp in the minivan would be a convenient option but would cost the family $25,000.
So his neighborhood has pitched in to help the family raise funds by hosting a Halloween haunted house.
"I knew I wanted to help somehow and since Halloween is coming up, I thought why not do a haunted house?" said Cindy Maughn.
"We've been through some really challenging times. Lots of lost sleep with the loss of our children, and many times we had needs but nobody knew how to help us," said Eric Maughn.
"We've been working every day until 11 at night trying to get everything done," said one volunteer.
The Haunted House opened yesterday at Beardsley and 91st Avenue in Peoria. It will also operate today.
For those unable to visit the house, donations can be sent in online via PayItSquare.com or visit calebsride.com for more information on the haunted house benefit.
