Hyundai, the country's second largest automaker has finally confirmed that it will be bringing its ix25 compact SUV to India. Auto aficionados have to wait a little longer to get their hands on this latest offering from Hyundai as it would not be launching before July 2015. It would be locking horns with Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano. The Hyundai ix25 compact SUV adorns company's latest Fluidic design philosophy.

Hyundai ix25 Design

The front consists of triple slat matte grille flanked by LED daytime running lamps. Front bumper is combined with a broader air dam with an integrated pair of fog lamps. Above the air dam, there is a silver skid plate. It would sport stylish diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The compact SUV boasts of roof rails and turn indicators integrated ORVMs. At the rear end, the urban crossover comprises of a LED tail-lamp cluster. The interior cabin is the most contemporary and has sophisticated features such as automatic air conditioning, LCD screen multimedia system, leather wrapped multi-functional three-spoke steering wheel, leather wrapped gear-knob etc. The seats are done in black shade with contrasting stitches that would further enhance the ambience of the cabin. 

Performance

Acceleration & Pick-Up

According to the speculations, the petrol variants are likely to be mated with a five speed manual transmission gearbox. Market sources believe that the diesel variants could be paired with a six manual transmission gearbox.

Engine Performance

Vehicle is believed to come with a 1.4-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engine options. Its petrol engine is based on a VTVT technology that has multi-point fuel injection system. It has four cylinder and 16-valves that displace 1396cc. This can produce a maximum power of 105.5bhp at 6300rpm that results in a commanding torque output of 135.4Nm at 5000rpm. The diesel variants are most likely to get a 1.6-litre VGT engine that has common rail fuel injection system. It comprises of six cylinders, each of which have 4-valves that displaces 1582cc. This diesel engine is further incorporated with a variable geometry turbocharger that allows it to develop a maximum power of 126.2bhp at 4000rpm and yields a peak torque output of 259.8Nm between 1900 to 2750rpm. Both these engines are expected to be paired with a five speed manual transmission gearbox.

Mileage

Hyundai ix25 SUV diesel variants are most likely to host a 1.6-litre VGT diesel that has common rail fuel injection system. This will deliver a maximum mileage of approximately 21 Kmpl and a minimum of 15 Kmpl. Its petrol variants are expected to get a 1.4-litre, VTVT engine that has multi-point fuel injection system. This can produce a minimum mileage of around 13 Kmpl on city roads, which might go up to a maximum of 16 Kmpl on highways.
