Holi is the festival of colour that is celebrated on Phalgun Purnima (according to the Hindu calendar). This year the festival of holi was observed on 16th and 17th March.
This year the colourful festival of Holi was celebrated at Balagokulam Phoenix on 16th March. The event was organised by Lalitha Byra, Jayant Rajyaguruji, Monica Gupta, Arvind Swamy and Prasad Koranne.
The Holi festival at Balagokulam Phoenix was attended by quite a few people and everyone had a lot of fun observing the festival in its true spirit. People smeared colour called 'gulal' on each others face. Everyone was happy at the occassion and left with smile on their face.
The festival has ancient origin and is a celebration of good triumphing over the bad. It's also a festival that bridges the social gap and helps us to renew our relationships. On the day of Holi people forget their differences and greet each other 'Happy Holi' with a hug.
The traditional Hindu festival of Holi begins with the lighting of a bonfire on Holi eve. On the day of holi people smear each others face with 'gulal' and 'abeer'. Besides there is lots of Holi-related sweets and salty snacks. Children love the festival of Holi the most. It's also enjoyed and played with fanfare and revelry by adults as well.
