After losing Pac-12 Championship Game, which killed its Rose Bowl hopes, Arizona State turned its full focus and strength to a win total that has been reached "only five times in program history."
Four of those seasons came under the leadership of Frank Kush, when the Sun Devils played in the Western Athletic Conference. The fifth came 17 years ago, when Jake Plummer, Pat Tillman and Juan Roque led the Sun Devils to the brink of a national championship, losing to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.
"So, yes, entering Monday night's Holiday Bowl showdown against Texas Tech at Qualcomm Stadium, 11 wins would serve as a nice accomplishment for a program that has, for the most part, struggled (read: underachieved) during its Pac-10/12 existence. Winning here would be just the latest sign the program is headed in the right direction," Todd Graham said.
"It would be monumental for us," the coach quipped.
"Huge," junior quarterback Taylor Kelly said.
"It would mean the world," senior cornerback Osahon Irabor said.
